(FirstEnergy) filed with the SEC a Notification of Registration on Form U-5A. On February 7, 2002, FirstEnergy filed a Registration Statement on Form U-5B (as amended on Form U-5B/A filed May 14, 2002), thereby registering as a holding company pursuant to the provisions of Section 5(a) under the 1935 Act. All the FirstEnergy's subsidiaries on Item 1, investments in energy related companies, were made by FirstEnergy prior to its registration under the Act.
