MECHEL CONFIRMS ITS SHARE CAPITAL
Moscow, Russia March 11, 2008 Mechel OAO (NYSE: MTL), one of the leading Russian mining and metals companies, in accordance with the Rules of the City Code on Takeovers and Mergers (the City Code) confirms the Companys share capital.
This disclosure under Rule 2.10 of the City Code is made subsequent to the announcement made by Mechel dated March 3, 2008.
Mechel hereby confirms, in accordance with Rule 2.10 of the City Code, that as at the close of the business day on March 10, 2008 it has in issue, in total 416,270,745 ordinary shares of RUR 10 each (the shares were issued on March 19, 2003 and January 23, 2004). The International Securities Identification Number (ISIN) for Mechels ordinary shares is RU000A0DKXV5.
The ISIN for Mechels American Depositary Receipts and Global Depositary Receipts which are listed on the New York Stock Exchange and registered with the U.S. Securities and Exchange Commission (each representing three ordinary shares of RUR 10 each in Mechel) are US5838401033 and US5838402023 respectively.

Dealing disclosure requirements:
