Item 5.02 Departure of Directors or Certain Officers; Election of Directors; Appointment of Certain Officers; Compensatory Arrangements of Certain Officers.

On July 29, 2008, Starbucks Corporation (“Starbucks” or the “Company”) announced that Martin Coles will no longer hold the position of chief operating officer. Effective immediately, Mr. Coles will reassume his prior role with Starbucks as president, Starbucks Coffee International, replacing James C. Alling who has left the Company. The Company has eliminated the chief operating officer position.
