The California Homebuilding Foundation today announced its 2023 Hall of Fame honorees, comprising of homebuilding professionals who have exemplified the Foundation’s mission of forging a bright future for the next generation of homebuilders.
“The Foundation is proud to place five honorees into our Hall of Fame in 2023, each of whom represent a gold standard in the homebuilding industry for innovation, leadership and philanthropy,” said Terri Brunson, Executive Director of the California Homebuilding Foundation. “We are excited to honor these individuals, whose names and work will be added to our esteemed list of California homebuilding professionals in our Hall of Fame.”
Since 1985, the Foundation has annually honored outstanding individuals in the homebuilding industry through its Hall of Fame. Inductees are selected for their notable work and dedication to bettering the building industry for the workforce of the next generation.
The 2023 Hall of Fame honorees are Adrian Foley (Brookfield Properties), Michael Maples and Gregg Nelson (Trumark Homes), Leonard Miller (BrightSky Residential) and John Shea (J.F. Shea Co. Inc.). They will be inducted at the Foundation’s 38th Hall of Fame gala, taking place on May 23 in Anaheim.
California Homebuilding Foundation 2023 Hall of Fame Honorees
Adrian Foley: Adrian Foley is President and Chief Executive Officer of Brookfield Properties' development group, responsible for the organization's Land & Housing and Development portfolios. He joined Brookfield Homes in 1996, and in 2011 began leading Brookfield Residential’s California operations. Since then, he has held several leadership roles, including President & COO of Brookfield Residential – one of North America’s largest land developers with horizontal and vertical assets in over 35 markets. Adrian was born and raised in England and is a graduate of the University of Greenwich, London, U.K.
Michael Maples, Gregg Nelson: Michael Maples and Gregg Nelson are a Managing Member and Co-CEO of Trumark Companies, respectively. Maples and Nelson co-founded Trumark Companies in 1988. The company has developed over 3,000 homes, including master-planned communities. Maples is a graduate of San Jose State University (BA) and the Bethel Seminary in St. Paul, Minnesota. Nelson is also a graduate of San Jose State University (BA) and Santa Clara University (MBA).
Leonard Miller: Leonard Miller is the Chief Executive Officer of BrightSky Residential, LLC, a Resmark Company. Miller joined the Resmark Company in January 2022, after serving as Chief Operating Officer and later President/Chief Executive Officer for The New Home Company between 2017 and 2021. Miller also previously worked at Richmond American Homes, where he had regional and divisional responsibility for several markets in the western United States. He has served on numerous boards in leadership roles, including the Building Industry Associations of Southern California and Riverside. He is an alumni of both the University of Southern California (BS) and San Diego State University (MBA).
John Shea: John Shea was the Chief Executive Officer of J.F. Shea Co. Inc. for 47 years (1958-2005). He assumed the role of company Chairman, a position he held until he passed away in late 2022. Together with his cousins Edmund and Peter Shea, John reorganized the Shea family construction business, renowned for its work on the Golden Gate Bridge and the Hoover Dam. The Shea’s built their family company into one of the largest privately held businesses in the United States. John’s companies included Shea Homes, J.F. Shea Construction and Shea Properties. During his career, John and his wife, Dorothy, provided tens of thousands of scholarships to disadvantaged students and funded over 1,000 school renovations on more than 500 different campuses in the Archdiocese of Los Angeles and across the United States.
