JetBlue Helps Customers Reach Mosaic Status through Contributions to Sustainable Aviation Fuel

By contributing to Sustainable Aviation Fuel, customers can help reach their year-end Mosaic goals while supporting an emerging solution for lower emission aviation.

From now until Dec. 31, 2024, TrueBlue customers can earn up to 10 tiles toward Mosaic status and TrueBlue perks through Chooose.

Today, JetBlue (Nasdaq: JBLU) announces a new year-end opportunity for TrueBlue and Mosaic customers to earn tiles towards perks and status. From now until December 31, 2024, customers who make qualifying contributions toward sustainable aviation fuel (SAF) through https://jetblue.chooose.today will earn 1 tile for every $100 spent. Customers will also be able to combine these SAF contributions with other qualifying JetBlue travel spend to reach their next tile.

Available today, SAF is an alternative jet fuel that safely drops into existing aircraft and infrastructure and can reduce lifecycle emissions by roughly 80% as compared to fossil-based jet fuel. JetBlue is proud to have doubled SAF in its operations year-over-year since 2020, taking delivery from three SAF producers at San Francisco International Airport (SFO) and Los Angeles International Airport (LAX) and soon bringing the first-ever regular supply of SAF to New York’s John F. Kennedy International Airport (JFK). However, more SAF is still needed to reach industry goals, and support is necessary to encourage the continued growth of the SAF market.

In 2022, JetBlue partnered with climate tech company Chooose to offer customers a platform for estimating their share of greenhouse gas (GHG) emissions from flying and taking steps to address them. Customers’ SAF contributions through Chooose go directly to a fund dedicated to covering the cost premium of SAF as compared to conventional jet fuel. Today’s announced year-end promotion builds on that partnership by offering additional value to JetBlue’s TrueBlue customers interested in supporting decarbonization opportunities within aviation.

“As we enter our sixth year of flying with SAF, we are now making it even easier (and rewarding) for customers to join us in our efforts.” said Sara Bogdan, Managing Director, Sustainability at JetBlue, “Whether you’re celebrating a great year of travel, or planning ahead for next year, we’re inviting you to partner with us to help address the carbon emissions caused by flying through contributions to sustainable aviation fuel.”

How it works:

  • 89.69% of the Contributions will be allocated towards JetBlue for the purchase of SAF and/or blended SAF products.
  • A service and technology fee, equivalent to 10.31%, will be paid to Chooose. This fee is included in the total Contributions and does not contribute towards the purchase of SAF.
  • TrueBlue members can earn up to 10 tiles with SAF contributions (up to a limit of $1,000).
  • TrueBlue members can combine SAF spend with other qualifying JetBlue travel spend to reach their next tile.
  • Contributions are non-refundable.
  • Tiles earned will be administered by the end of January 2025.
  • Status and perks earned will apply until the end of 2025.

Last year, JetBlue refreshed TrueBlue to be more rewarding than ever before with the introduction of new Mosaic levels, tiles and perks, as well as perks for TrueBlue members along their way to Mosaic status. Whether members arrive at Mosaic status through travel spend, JetBlue credit card spend or a combination of both, tiles allow members to make the path to perks and Mosaic their own.

JetBlue’s Focus on the Environment

JetBlue depends on natural resources and a healthy environment to keep its business running smoothly. In addition to the shared reliance on these resources, tourism thrives with beautiful, natural and preserved destinations for customers to visit, adding to the list of reasons for JetBlue’s business focus on the topic. With that, customers, crewmembers and the greater community are also key to JetBlue's sustainability strategy. Demand from these groups for responsible service is even more motivation to lead with changes that help reduce the airline’s carbon output and overall environmental impact.

While JetBlue views SAF as the most promising solution to rapidly and directly reduce aircraft emissions in the short and medium term, it is one piece of its larger decarbonization strategy which also includes aircraft efficiency, fuel optimization, electric ground operations, and technology partnerships.
