OrthoCare Georgia Expands Continuum of Orthopedic CARE with New Physical Therapy Clinic in Riverdale

New clinic strengthens surgeon-led, patient-first model from diagnosis through rehabilitation

OrthoCare Georgia, the independent orthopedic practice founded by fellowship-trained orthopedic surgeon Timothy N. Ghattas, MD, has announced the opening of a new physical therapy clinic just two streets from its main Riverdale office. The addition of in-house physical therapy completes a true continuum of care—allowing patients to move from diagnosis to treatment to rehab under one coordinated, patient-first team.

OrthoCare Georgia is an independent orthopedic practice in Riverdale, Georgia, founded by Timothy N. Ghattas, MD, a board-certified, fellowship-trained orthopedic surgeon with more than 15 years of experience and over 4,000 procedures performed. A key part of the launch is the return of a familiar local physical therapist, Gordy Harrison, who will lead care at the new clinic. After spending several years practicing out of state, he has returned to the Riverdale community, where many patients already know him and have been asking for his care. Built on the CARE philosophy—Compassion, Accessibility, Recovery-focused, Expertise-driven—OrthoCare Georgia was created to move beyond rushed, high-volume environments and deliver a more thoughtful, human-centered orthopedic experience. The addition of its new physical therapy clinic creates a complete continuum of care, helping patients move from diagnosis through rehabilitation with one coordinated team.

A key part of the launch is the return of a familiar local physical therapist, Gordy Harrison, who will lead care at the new clinic. After spending several years practicing out of state, he has returned to the Riverdale community, where many patients already know him and have been asking for his care.

Gordy Harrison, PT, brings over 25 years of experience in physical therapy, specializing in orthopedic care, sports rehabilitation, and total joint rehab. He has extensive expertise in treating shoulder pain and working with geriatric and neurological populations. Gordy is dedicated to helping patients restore mobility, reduce pain, and return to the activities they enjoy.

Dr. Ghattas founded OrthoCare Georgia after years in a large, high-volume orthopedic practice, where he saw how rushed schedules and system bureaucracy often came at the expense of patient experience and outcomes. He launched OrthoCare Georgia to live out the practice’s CARE philosophy:

  • Compassion – treating every patient like family
  • Accessibility – direct access to a highly skilled orthopedic surgeon
  • Recovery-focused – prioritizing long-term healing, not quick fixes
  • Expertise-driven – leveraging 15+ years of experience and 4,000+ procedures performed

Bringing physical therapy in-house within the first year of opening is a deliberate move to advance that mission—not just maintain the status quo.

“I didn’t leave a large practice just to recreate the same system under a new name,” said Dr. Timothy Ghattas, founder of OrthoCare Georgia. “Our CARE philosophy is about building the right environment around the patient, not forcing them to navigate a maze of disconnected clinics. Adding our own physical therapy clinic is a concrete example of that—we’re taking responsibility for the entire journey, not just the surgery.”

The new clinic will provide orthopedic-focused physical therapy for:

  • Post-surgical rehab after joint replacement and ligament reconstruction
  • Sports and activity-related injuries
  • Back and neck pain
  • Arthritis and chronic joint problems
  • Work- and auto-related injuries

Because physical therapy is now embedded into the OrthoCare model, therapists can see the same imaging, operative notes, and treatment plans as Dr. Ghattas and his team. This allows for tighter collaboration, more precise progress tracking, and faster adjustments when patients need more time, different exercises, or additional interventions.

“Too often, patients are sent to an outside PT clinic with a piece of paper and very little context,” Dr. Ghattas added. “At OrthoCare, we can actually sit down with the therapist, review what we’re seeing, and update the plan together. That’s how you get better outcomes—and frankly, it’s how I’d want my own family to be treated.”

The new physical therapy clinic is conveniently located off Upper Riverdale Road, just two streets from the main OrthoCare Georgia office. Patients will find free, on-site parking and a ground-level entrance with no stairs or elevators, making access easier for those using crutches, walkers, canes, or wheelchairs. Early morning and evening appointments are available to better accommodate work, school, and family schedules.

Beyond serving OrthoCare’s existing patients, the physical therapy clinic will also accept referrals from outside providers across Riverdale and surrounding communities, including other orthopedic surgeons, primary care physicians, urgent care centers, and more. This positions the clinic as an additional resource for the broader South Atlanta area, not just OrthoCare’s internal patients.

“We’re building something that raises the bar for orthopedic care in this community,” said Dr. Ghattas. “Direct surgeon access, customized treatment plans, and now a therapy team that’s fully plugged into that process—this is what our patients deserve, and this is the standard we’re committed to.”
