Greenclean™ Detergent Technology benefits include protection from traditional injector coking deposits that can lower fuel economy and increase emissions. Greenclean™ Detergent Technology also offers protection against a new type of deposit now being observed in the marketplace, internal injector deposits, which can rob your engine of power and, if left untreated, can result in expensive downtime to replace fuel injectors.

Dave Cleaver, N.A. Fuels Marketing Manager, credited Afton’s long experience in the industry for the development of Greenclean™ Detergent Technology. “Through our close relationships with OEMs, oil companies, and injector manufacturers, we have a deep understanding of the many challenges faced by the industry. Our world leading Greenclean™ Detergent Technology offers solutions to those challenges, including delivering optimal cleanliness at a low treat rate. It’s particularly gratifying to be able to offer a solution that has real value for so much of the industry,” he said.

Julie Galante-Fox, Afton R&D Scientist, says, “The solubility properties of today’s ultra low sulfur diesel, in combination with high pressure direct injection diesel engine technology, contribute to the formation of internal injector deposits that can cause injectors to ‘stick’. Sticking injectors result in power loss, rough operation and vehicle failure. We have worked diligently on the internal injector deposit problem, from understanding the root cause, to developing an engine test that allows us to reproduce the deposit and deliver a solution that not only keeps these deposits from forming, but also cleans up deposits that have formed. Greenclean™ Detergent Technology has proven performance in dealing with the internal deposit problem and is also extremely effective in protecting against traditional coking deposits.”
