( click to enlarge )Shares of Zalicus, Inc. (NASDAQ:ZLCS) traded nicely and I’m looking for continuation of the upward direction. The stock surged 12.88% or 30 cents to $2.63 per share after an Oppenheimer & Co. analyst started covering the stock with an "Outperform" rating. Analyst Boris Peaker said Zalicus could get up to $15 million in annual royalties from the pain drug Exalgo, a drug developed by Zalicus and marketed by Covidien PLC. He said the Cambridge, Mass., company also has a promising pipeline of drug candidates, including the experimental rheumatoid arthritis drug Synavive, and eye allergy treatment Prednisporin. He believes annual sales of Exalgo could reach $250 million to $300 million. The analyst established a price target of $4 per share. Based upon watching the trading action today, there appeared to be a strong look of positive sentiment that traders are holding and looking for higher prices. Plus, the Company moved higher on above average volume, which is considered to be a favorable signal. Zalicus Inc has a 52 week low of $1.01 and a 52 week high of $3.21. The stock’s 50-day moving average is $2.49 and its 200-day moving average is $1.93. The company has a market cap of $260.0 million. Keep your eyes posted on ZLCS in the near term and long term as it has many factors that are in its favor which could allow it to rise to much higher levels.
