Bank of America Announces Support for Relief Efforts of the Texas Wildfires

In 2011, Texas has been significantly impacted by raging wildfires which have been fueled by high winds and dry conditions created by the state’s worst one-year drought on record. In response to these disasters, the Bank of America Charitable Foundation will contribute $75,000 to key nonprofit organizations assisting in relief efforts.

"We extend our sympathies to all those who have been impacted by the devastating wildfires, and we are committed to helping our customers and communities recover from the widespread destruction,” said Kim Ruth, Texas president, Bank of America. “In addition to our financial contributions, our Austin and San Antonio-based employees have organized a food and supply drive September 8 through September 15 in coordination with Hands On Central Texas to help provide supplies to those in need.”

Bank of America will contribute $25,000 to the United Way Capital Area Wildfire Relief Fund. Additional funding includes $25,000 to the Texas Wildfire Relief Fund in support of those on the front line fighting the fires and $25,000 to the American Red Cross for disaster relief needs in Texas.

In addition, the Bank of America Charitable Foundation will match employee donations to relief efforts through the bank’s Matching Gifts program.
