Bank of America Opens Customer Assistance Center in Southington for Distressed Homeowners Throughout Connecticut

Bank of America announced today it has opened a customer assistance center in Southington to serve its mortgage customers throughout Connecticut. Borrowers will have the opportunity to meet face-to-face with Bank of America home retention specialists to review options for home loan modifications or other alternatives to foreclosure, as well as review loan modification files already in progress.

“Bank of America has assisted more than 11,000 Connecticut homeowners with permanent modifications since January 2008, but there is more work to be done,” said Rebecca Mairone, national mortgage outreach executive for Bank of America Home Loans. “We recognize the importance of face-to-face outreach, and expect that making ourselves even more accessible to homeowners who are having difficulty making their payments due to economic conditions will have a significant impact on our statewide foreclosure prevention efforts.”

The Southington Customer Assistance Center team will follow each customer file through the entire loan modification process, make on-site decisions in many cases, and assist with other available foreclosure prevention solutions if a modification is not possible. Spanish-speaking customers will be assisted by bilingual staff.

Bank of America customers can make appointments and get more information on required documentation by calling the center at 860.385.9259. Home retention specialists are available to meet with borrowers by appointment only from 9 a.m. to 6 p.m. on weekdays and 9 a.m. to 1 p.m. on Saturdays.

As part of its commitment to distressed homeowners in Connecticut, Bank of America held simultaneous customer outreach events July 14 – 16 in Hartford and Stamford. During the three-day events, attendees were able to meet face-to-face with home retention specialists to review options for modifications or assist with other alternatives to foreclosure. State Attorney General George Jepsen attended the Hartford event, and played an important role in helping bring the customer assistance center to Southington.

Since the first of the year, Bank of America has expanded its network of customer assistance centers for mortgage customers from five to more than 40. More than 35,000 homeowners have received assistance through these centers.
