Ultra Electronics Airport Systems Wins Major Systems Integration Project at Tocumen International Airport in Panama

Ultra Electronics Airport Systems today announced it has been selected to provide a comprehensive suite of Airport Operations and Information Systems at Tocumen International Airport (“TIA”) in the Republic of Panama.

This major systems integration project will complement the expansion and modernization work already underway at TIA to realize their vision of becoming the best international airport in the entire region, as well as to improve safety of air operations, quality of service and to position Panama for new business opportunities.

Ultra and TIA will work together to deploy, integrate and commission a variety of systems including Flight Information Display and Resource Management Systems, Airport Operational Database and an Aeronautical Billing System.

The new systems will improve customer service at “The Hub of the Americas” by providing airport and airline staff with accurate operational information to optimize passenger and baggage flow through the airport. TIA will also enjoy reduced integration risks as new systems are introduced, as well as improved automation, utilization and flexibility of key airport resources.

“Ultra is very proud to deepen our long and successful relationship with TIA,” stated Jim Houghton, Ultra’s Director of Business Development - Americas. “Our systems will help them realize their growth and expansion plans.”

Tocumen International Airport is experiencing rapid growth as passenger volumes have nearly doubled over the past 5 years. “Ultra’s common use passenger processing system has been very beneficial for us at TIA since it was first implemented in 2005,” stated Luis Eleta, TIA’s Manager of Planning and Strategic Development. “We are very pleased to continue this relationship that will enhance the travel experience of millions of air passengers in the Americas, and beyond.”
