Amazon has expanded its Steam-competing digital downloads play by launching digital games and digital software stores for PC and Mac software on its U.K. site – something the ecommerce giant already offered on Amazon.com.

As with the U.S. stores, downloads can be kicked off straight from the order confirmation page once payment has been taken. The UK stores remain in beta for now, with Amazon noting it will be “testing different features and gathering input from customers” as it tweaks the experience.

As well as offering full PC and Mac game downloads and downloadable game content (DLC) for sale via the store, there is also a free-to-play game downloads section — for freemium titles.

Full games titles currently being offered in the stores include the Far Cry series, Deus Ex, Assassin’s Creed and Tomb Raider, while on the software side the store is pushing the likes of Office for Mac, Adobe After Effects and Kaspersky antivirus software.

Digital content is downloaded to the Amazon user’s computer but can also be viewed and re-downloaded via the user’s Games & Software Library Page on Amazon’s website.
