Hair Care Market Tipped for Massive Growth, Color Specialist Rodney Gentry Highlights 2014’s Latest Trends

By: PRLog
With hair salon revenue projected to expand significantly through to 2017 based on IBISWorld data, clients wanting to achieve the perfect look for 2014 are having to book their appointments well in advance.
PRLog - Feb. 24, 2014 - SCOTTSDALE, Ariz. -- Hair trends are big business – and becoming more so. According to the Small Business Development Center Network, around 86,000 establishments are available in the US to satisfy customers’ increasing demand for professional care for their tresses. The establishments already account for a combined annual revenue of somewhere in the region of $20 billion and the industry is tipped to expand significantly through to 2017, with the latest IBISWorld beauty salon market research report predicting employment at salons will reach 1.8 million employees by that time.

To hair color specialist Rodney Gentry, based at Sachi Salon & Spa in Scottsdale AZ, the figures come as no surprise. Gentry comments:

“We’re seeing more and more clients who not only want to take care of their hair, but who want to keep up with the latest trends. Research has proven that hair coloring makes women feel more attractive and now men are feeling more confident in terms of coloring their hair as well.”

In fact, research published on Statistic Brain records 69% of women as saying they feel more attractive right after having their hair colored, while 35% of women request a full hair coloring most frequently at salons. The figures are backed by the increase in clients that Gentry has noticed asking for advice on the latest trends. He explains:

“Both men and women have become more conscious of hairstyle trends recently. The colors, cuts and styles that we’ve seen on the catwalks and red carpets so far in 2014 are being replicated in salons across the US.”

The three key trends for 2014, as identified by Gentry and his colleagues at the Sachi Salon & Spa, include striking platinum blonde locks along the lines of those sported by celebrities as diverse as Kim Kardashian, Elle Fanning and Miley Cyrus. For the chaps, blond highlights as demonstrated by True Blood’s Ryan Kwanten sum up the season’s hottest color.

Cut-wise, 2014 is seeing two fabulously contrasting styles. Cascading mermaid waves have featured heavily on the catwalks, as favored by designers including Calvin Klein, Versace and Diane Von Furstenberand. Meanwhile, over at Chloé, Donna Karan and Miu Miu, sleek, poker-straight locks are the order of the day.

Whatever their individual style, clients are heading to the salon in their droves to achieve the latest look, trusting the professionals to take care of their locks. As well as generating growth across the US hair salon sector, clients are also contributing to the enlargement of the world hair care products industry, with the latest data from MarketLine projecting an 18% expansion over the five year period to 2015, to a market value of almost $58 billion.

In the face of such impressive growth across the hair care industry, and particularly in terms of increasing salon revenues, one thing is clear – those looking to stay on top of the latest hair trends in 2014 should book their appointment fast!
