Column: In this digital age, know your rights

As Western New Yorkers, we take for granted that we live near the Canadian border and can pass back and forth fairly freely, with the exception of long lines at customs. When we re-enter the United States from Canada or on international flights, we give little thought to our Fourth Amendment rights and whether they are applicable at the border. The fight against terror and the lightning fast advances of the digital age may change that.
