NEW YORK - Nov. 9, 2017 - PRLog -- Award-winning producer Ben DeJesus announced today a nationwide open call for actors to submit auditions for two roles in his documentary film "Latin History for Morons: John Leguizamo's Road to Broadway" via the social media app Clapit, an increasingly popular and innovative talent discovery app that partners with film and television productions to discover aspiring actors. The film will be shot in New York in January 2018. All audition videos must be submitted through Clapit in accordance with Clapit's competition rules, terms and guidelines. Ben DeJesus is a New York based filmmaker best known for co-producing "Tales from a Ghetto Klown" alongside Oscar® winning producer Fisher Stevens. The film was an award-winning PBS documentary about John Leguizamo.

DeJesus's latest production, "Latin History for Morons: John Leguizamo's Road to Broadway," is a documentary film about the creation of John Leguizamo's one-man Broadway show. To support his open call for aspiring actors to be featured in the film documentary, DeJesus has partnered with the social media entertainment app Clapit, where emerging actors can be discovered via an innovative, community-driven audition process from their mobile devices.

The winners of DeJesus's open call on Clapit will be flown to New York to see Leguizamo's Broadway show. They will also get to meet Leguizamo, and DeJesus will film the meeting to be featured in his documentary.

Actors can apply by uploading a twenty second video audition to Clapit, showcasing their acting talent in accordance with the character breakdowns posted on the app. The most clapped audition videos, ranked by the Clapit community, will be showcased on Clapit's "Best" feed. DeJesus will select one male winner from the top five most clapped male auditions and one female winner from the top five most clapped female auditions – a democratic crowd-sourced voting system to provide two actors with their first big breaks.

Entrants download Clapit for free from the iTunes App Store, shoot and upload their videos, hashtag their entries #bendejesus, and then spread the word by asking friends to download Clapit and "clap" (vote) for them. All entries are subject to eligibility requirements and the official contest rule. The open call wraps on November 24,2017 at 11:59 P.M. EST.

"Clapit is an innovative platform that helps aspiring actors achieve their dreams by offering roles in film and television productions. It's an honor to work with their up-and-coming actors that have so much talent," said DeJesus. "I hope that meeting Leguizamo and being featured in the documentary will give them the inspiration to continue pursuing their dreams."

"We are thrilled to partner with Ben DeJesus," said Clapit CEO and co-founder Mary Jane Bulseco. "It's nearly impossible for aspiring actors to meet legends like John Leguizamo, and to get the kind of exposure they will receive in Ben's documentary film. We are thankful that Ben has partnered with us so we can provide this opportunity to up-and-coming actors."
