DEARBORN, Mich. - Dec. 6, 2017 - PRLog -- The Union at Dearborn, a purpose-built student housing facility serving primarily the University of Michigan- Dearborn, announced today the addition of a planned E-sports and Gaming Lounge to its list of amenities for residents. The lounge, which will include console and virtual reality games as well as table games including pool, table tennis, foosball and air hockey, is expected to be completed in early 2018.
"We believe the gaming lounge will be very popular with our current residents and will help attract new residents in the future," said Elliott Broderick, Chief Operating Officer of UCC Management Co. which manages the Union at Dearborn. "For electronic gaming, we plan on having at least twelve different consoles available with multiple controllers and 4K video screens for each. We will have the most popular formats including PlayStation 4, Xbox and Nintendo as well as a sizable array of today's most popular games."
The Union also plans to partner with different organizations including the University of Michigan-Dearborn to host competitive E-sports tournaments in the future. Video gaming has become extremely popular with high school and college age students in recent years and competitive E-sports has grown into over a half billion dollar a year industry.
