American Campus Communities Wins Best Student Housing Rental Apartment Community Multifamily Pillars of the Industry Award from National Association of Home Builders (NAHB)

American Campus Communities (NYSE:ACC), the nation’s largest developer, owner and manager of high-quality student housing, today announced that the company’s highly acclaimed The Summit at University City received the National Association of Home Builders’ 2017 Multifamily Pillars of the Industry Award for Best Student Housing Rental Apartment Community. ACC projects were also recognized as finalists for Best Example of Green Building Concepts, Best Student Housing Rental Apartment Community and Best Mixed-Use Community.

American Campus Communities has been recognized at NAHB’s Pillars of the Industry Awards on 28 occasions since 2005, 14 of which are first place awards, including the Multifamily Development Firm of the Year in 2013.

“This honor kicks off a special year for American Campus Communities, as we are celebrating our 25th anniversary in 2018,” said Bill Bayless, ACC CEO. “We’re proud to have been recognized by the National Association of Home Builders, and look forward to continuing to drive innovation in the student housing industry.”

ACC’s individual awards are:

  • Best Student Housing Rental Apartment Community: The Summit at University City, Philadelphia, PA – The Summit at University City is an on-campus community serving Drexel University students, and the third phase in the Drexel-ACC public-private partnership delivered in the fall of 2015. The community houses 1,315 residents and provides an Urban Eatery for residents and the surrounding neighborhood. The Summit has also received accolades from Philadelphia’s Business Journal as 2015 Best Real Estate Deals and 2016 Student Housing Business Innovator Award for Best Implementation of Mixed-Used.
  • Best Mixed-Use Community – Finalist: The Summit at University City
  • Best Student Housing Rental Apartment Community – Finalist: U Club on 28th, Boulder, CO – U Club on 28th is a modern, 398-bed, off-campus student community, developed in 2016.
  • Best Example of Green Building Concepts – Finalist: Fairview House, Butler University – A LEED® Silver community, Fairview House is an on-campus, modern student housing community serving more than 630 residents.

The NAHB Multifamily Pillars of the Industry Awards program is held annually, highlighting creativity and innovation in the apartment and condo marketplace. This year’s awards program was held on January 9 at the NAHB International Builders’ Show in Orlando, FL.
