Evergy’s purchase of coal-fired generation could cost consumers $12M, report says

The parent of Westar and Kansas City Power & Light bought the additional capacity from a plant northwest of the metro area when another utility didn't renew its lease. Now, a report says that cost could be borne by ratepayers rather than investors.
