FORT LAUDERDALE, FL, October 16, 2020 /24-7PressRelease/ -- Chalik & Chalik Injury Lawyers awarded its Community Engagement Scholarship to Lily Sweet King, 20, of Tallahassee, Fl.

Miss King, a college student at the University of Mississippi, epitomizes what it means to be engaged in one's community.

While in high school, Miss King marched with the student activists who survived the Parkland, Fla., school shooting. She was moved to do something, even as she admittedly had to overcome being painfully shy to do so. In 2018, she organized a Longest Table event for 10 high schools in Tallahassee to combat the racial and religious prejudice she witnessed in high school.

The event continues with Miss King as an advisor.

Miss King was delighted to attend Ole Miss but was shocked when Neo-Confederates marched on the beloved grounds of The Grove her first year at school. She overcame what she described as a "phobia" about public engagement and approached the university chancellor to organize a Longest Table event on The Grove. She hopes this will be an annual event at Ole Miss.

Miss King was inspired by the late President Ronald Reagan who said: "All great change in America begins at the dinner table."

Miss King is expected to graduate in May 2022 with a B.S. in Integrated Marketing Communications.
