Cheyenne, Dec 17, 2020 (Issuewire.com) - The Canine Stars traveling Stunt Dog Show, which performs year-round at shows throughout North America and beyond, has announced its last call for entries for the 2021 Youth Performer Mentorship Program. The program, which is open to kids between the ages of 12 and 18 worldwide, was designed to help kids share their dog training accomplishments, while gaining skills and confidence by learning from the world-renowned Canine Stars trainers.

Graduates of the program will not only receive free training and mentoring from some of the world's top trainers, they will also be invited to perform with The Canine Stars as guest Junior Trainers in a future show, and will be featured in an upcoming issue of the AKC's Family Dog magazine.

Applications, which are due December 20th, 2020, can be submitted online by posting a 1-2-minute video on Instagram or Facebook showcasing the applicant and their dog using the hashtag #FutureCanineStar. After posting their video, applicants must send an email to Mentor@TheCanineStars.com with a link to the posted video, a message about why they'd like to be a part of the program along with the applicant's name, age, location, dog's name, dog's age and if the dog is from a rescue or shelter.

According to Alberta, Canada-based Canine Stars trainer Katerina Jansen, who chairs the Mentorship program, "The Youth Performer Mentorship Program is an exciting opportunity for skilled dog trainers and performers worldwide to help mentor the next generation of dog trainers. During these crazy times when everything is going virtual, this program will allow young dog trainers to learn and perfect their skills in agility, trick training, high jump, freestyle dance, disc, dock diving and more. Additionally, by helping support young trainers in stepping outside of their comfort zone and learning how to perform and interact with the crowd, we hope to teach them skills that they can use not only in their performances, but also in everyday life."

Canine Stars President Keri Caraher notes, "Giving back to the community has always been an important part of The Canine Stars mission, whether promoting rescue through education and adoption, transporting rescue dogs to their new homes or supporting young dog sport trainers in exploring their passion for working with their rescue dogs. We are excited to be launching our Youth Performer Mentorship Program, and can't wait to see all the wonderful videos showcasing young dog trainers from all over the world."

Five applicants will be chosen for the Canine Stars Youth Mentorship Class of 2021, where they will receive one-on-one ongoing virtual training from some of the world's top trainers and performers.

Full rules, details and updates will be posted on the Canine Stars website at: https://www.thecaninestars.com/youth-performer-mentorship... and winners will be announced on January 2, 2021.
