New Medical AOS Degree Programs at IntelliTec Pueblo

IntelliTec College has announced two new Associate of Occupational Studies degree programs to be offered at the Pueblo campus. Beginning September 27, 2021, IntelliTec Pueblo will offer a Medical Billing and Coding AOS degree program and a Medical Assisting AOS degree program. IntelliTec College is a career-training institute with additional locations in Albuquerque, Grand Junction, and Colorado Springs.

IntelliTec College of Pueblo has announced enrollment is now open for two new Associate of Occupational Studies degree programs designed for students who are looking to enter the medical field. IntelliTec Pueblo will now offer a Healthcare Administration: Medical Billing and Coding AOS degree program as well as a Healthcare Administration: Medical Assisting AOS degree program. The new medical AOS degree programs will begin September 27, 2021.

IntelliTec College’s mission is to provide the training programs students need in order to be prepared for the jobs that are in high demand in their communities. IntelliTec has added the Healthcare Administration: Medical Billing and Coding AOS degree program and the Healthcare Administration: Medical Assisting AOS degree program to help meet the need for healthcare professionals in the Pueblo, Colorado area.

Medical Billing and Coding specialists are essential healthcare workers who provide important administrative healthcare services. IntelliTec’s Medical Billing and Coding program teaches students the skills they need to begin entry-level positions in hospitals, physicians’ offices, nursing care facilities, and in administrative and support services and professional, scientific, and technical services. Students learn medical terminology, comprehensive medical coding and billing procedures, current medical billing software, how to prepare and file insurance claims, how to analyze benefits, how to use Electronic Health Records (EHR) systems, and how to adhere to HIPAA laws.

The new Medical Billing and Coding AOS degree program is 92.50 credit hours and can be completed in as few as 18 months. Students must complete 18 weeks of General Education courses, including Introduction to Business, Business Communications, and American Government. All General Education courses may be completed 100% online. Graduates of the program receive a Healthcare Administration: Medical Billing and Coding Associate of Occupational Studies degree and are prepared to sit for professional certifications including the Certified Medical Administrative Assistant (CMAA), the Certified Electronic Health Record Specialist (CEHRS), and the Certified Billing & Coding Specialist (CBCS) from the National Healthcareer Association, and the CPC-A Certified Professional Coder and the CPB-Certified Professional Biller from the American Academy of Professional Coders (AAPC).

Medical Assistants are also essential healthcare workers; these important medical professionals work directly with both doctors and patients and may perform both clinical and administrative tasks. IntelliTec’s Medical Assistant program prepares students with the knowledge and skills they need for entry-level positions in hospitals, physicians’ offices, medical clinics, nursing care facilities, and other healthcare settings. Students learn anatomy and physiology of the human body, as well as how to perform medical tasks such as taking vital signs, administering medications, and preparing patients for medical procedures. IntelliTec students also learn to perform administrative duties such as appointment scheduling, insurance, and medical practice management.

The new Medical Assisting AOS degree program is 90.50 credit hours and can be completed in as few as 18 months. Students must complete 18 weeks of General Education courses, including Introduction to Business, Business Communications, and American History. All General Education courses may be completed 100% online. Graduates of the program receive a Healthcare Administration: Medical Assisting Associate of Occupational Studies degree and are prepared to sit for professional certifications including the AMT Registered Medical Assistant and Phlebotomist examinations.
