Best Buy Plans to Open 22 New Stores for Third Fiscal Quarter

Best Buy today announced plans to open 22 new U.S. Best Buy stores in the third fiscal quarter 2010. Included in these plans are the openings of the fifth store in Puerto Rico and an addition to the New York City market, a new store at Union Square. The new store projected for the Plaza Carolina shopping center in Puerto Rico will further expand Best Buy’s ability to serve communities on the island and continue to fulfill the promise of delivering the latest and greatest in technology and electronics. In addition, the Union Square location being developed in New York City will provide a dominant and highly visible presence in the major transportation hub of lower Manhattan.

The new stores are expected to open this fall in the following cities:

Fair City, Virginia (Thursday, September 3rd at 6:00 p.m. local time)

East Houston, Texas (Thursday, September 3rd at 6:00 p.m. local time)

Grand Parkway, Texas (Thursday, September 3rd at 6:00 p.m. local time)

Millenia Mall, Florida (Saturday, September 5th at 10:00 a.m. local time)

Collegeville, Pennsylvania (Thursday, October 1st at 6:00 p.m. local time)

D’iberville, Mississippi (Friday, October 2nd at 9:00 a.m. local time)

Brooklyn/Gateway, New York (Friday, October 2nd at 10:00 a.m. local time)

Strongsville, Ohio (Thursday, October 1st at 6:00 p.m.. local time)

Culver City, California (Friday, October 2nd at 10:00 a.m. local time)

Oshkosh, Wisconsin (Thursday, October 1st at 6:00 p.m. local time)

Vestal, New York (Friday, October 2nd at 10:00 a.m. local time)

Ribbon-cutting ceremonies and $10,000 check presentations to local nonprofits will mark the openings of the new destinations. Updated layouts, highly trained employees, and interactive displays will create a unique and engaging experience for customers.
