Versatile Brazilian businessman seeking to expand brand to US

By: Maydi Guerrero

Orlando, FL - He is a lawyer, a journalist and owner of Brazil’s second largest television network, Rede Brasil de Televisão, Marcos Tolentino’s network of television productions are growing in popularity in the United States due to the latest influx of Brazilian immigrants.  Brazilians are bringing to America their culture, language and television shows. This has spelled new opportunities for Tolentino.

As founder and current president of Rede Brasil de Televisão, Tolentino has spent that past 14 years of providing its viewers with star studded information and entertainment content. His channel Rede Brasil is the alternative to Brazil’s mega media conglomerate O Globo TV.

While O Globo TV  has maintained its spot as the number one channel, Tolentino’s Rede Brasil has experienced consistent and aggressive growth since the pandemic according to the data measuring company Nielsen Holdings. Rede Brasil, the channel with the highest audience acquisition has achieved great growth thanks to Tolentino’s incorporation of international stars and talent.

Tolentino’s success is rooted in 20 years of hard work and talent. Tolentino began his career as a salesman and his innovative spirit led him to surround himself with the greatest personalities in the nation. Being a dreamer is his main quality and his talent as a communicator transcends into his legal work. Recognized nationally as a stellar litigator and advocate gave him the national credibility—and capital—to build a mega media company.

Tolentino found Rede Mais FM radio station in São Paulo, which he still chairs and broadcasts in the main Brazilian states and the Federal District. From Rede Mais FM, Tolentino found Rede Mais TV which today transmits two of the top five prime time shows.

Marcos' main strategy focus has been on the expansion and positioning the television channel to a range of approximately 95% of the national territory, 26 capitals and more than 500 cities, reaching approximately 40 million homes with High-Definition transmission.

Understanding that media is straying away from television and onto the small screen of a cell phone, Tolentino developed in 2022 the free streaming application RBPLAY, which contains all the network’s programming.

In January Tolentino visited Florida’s Brazilian business community to build the necessary patronships to enter the American market.
