The Dawes Arboretum's 60th Annual Maple Syrup Day Offers a Sweet Taste of History
Join The Arboretum for a Year of History event on February 22, 2026.

NEWARK, Ohio - January 20, 2026 - Nature lovers, sweet tooth connoisseurs and history buffs will find much to do and see at The Dawes Arboretum’s 60th Annual Dawes Maple Syrup Day on February 22 from 12:00-4:00 p.m. This historical event is one of many taking place at The Arboretum throughout 2026 alongside America's and Ohio’s 250th anniversaries.

“This year’s event will feature even more science and history, all shared by educators who believe in our mission of trees, nature and history,” said Dawes Historian Leslie Wagner. “Addressing the topics of how Beman Dawes’ staff produced syrup in the 1920s and the science of why we don’t tap our sugar maples are just a couple of new engagements we will incorporate into the event. Most exciting, we will be offering three syrups for guests to taste. If you’ve joined us in the past, come back for an expanded event that the entire family will enjoy.”
