Introducing Aletheia Health Partners

Blending Transparency with 18 Years of Insights

WATKINSVILLE, GA / ACCESS Newswire / January 17, 2025 / In order to make the best decisions for a rural hospital, boards don't just need facts-they need a full view into the health of the facility. Which areas are struggling? Which ones offer potential for growth? Are there other issues beyond the obvious that are impacting hospital financials? Without comprehensive, up-to-date and transparent information, interpreted within a broader context, finding solutions can be more than challenging. They can be impossible.

Aletheia Health Partners, offering hospital management and strategic services for rural hospitals, is built on the unwavering belief that the key to saving rural hospitals must always begin with transparency-and it's why we intentionally chose "Aletheia" (a-lay-thee-a), an ancient Greek term found in the Bible meaning truth, as our name. How does this serve as our cornerstone and inform our approach?

We listen. We learn. We ask questions, some of them simple, others that might be tough. We meet with staff at all levels of the organization. We meet and build relationships with community stakeholders. We then analyze the data within this context, in order to shed light on the entire facility. Then, and only then, do we offer our reports, recommendations, guidance, and resources.

TURNAROUND AT-A-GLANCE

Hospital: Washington County Regional Medical Center

Before Aletheia Partnership: WCRMC was struggling both financially and with their reputation in the community. The hospital was experiencing several years of consistent operating losses and declining volumes. The trajectory was potential closure of the hospital if something did not change quickly.

18 Mos. After Partnering: Fast forward to 18 months of partnering with Aletheia, and the facility's trajectory is completely different! Now, the hospital is experiencing many months of profitability, record volumes, improved cash flow and service line growth. The hospital's reputation in the community has also greatly changed! Now, the community support the hospital's leadership and the direction it is going. This new found support is shown through that record number of patients choosing to come to WCRMC and the County's backing of over $15 million in bonds to build a new emergency room, renovate the facility and bring much needed services to the community!

Scheduled for Construction: New Emergency Department, breaking ground in January 2025.

BORN FROM A NEED AND AN ASK

Aletheia Health Partners is built on the foundation of PharmD On Demand, which includes 18 years' experience strengthening rural pharmacy operations. PharmD hospital clients valued the success they witnessed in their pharmacy operations and came to PharmD asking if the company could do more for their hospital.

Because pharmacy must collaborate closely with nearly every hospital department and division, PharmD gained unique knowledge of the issues rural hospitals face as well as insights into how to improve them. For instance:

  • Hospital Administration: PharmD serves with the goal of advocating for the pharmacy department while ensuring that the department is a good steward of the hospital's resources - maintaining the critical balance of providing quality patient care in the most cost-efficient way. Serving as a transparent layer between the administrative and pharmacy teams, PharmD on Demand gained exposure to the needs and challenges of hospital administration.

  • Resource Management: In settings where pharmacy departments are minimally staffed, PharmD on Demand has created a network that allows rural hospitals to operate without the same personnel resources found in larger health systems without bearing the burden of hiring and full salary cost. Exposing the leadership team to the operations of different hospitals allows PharmD to share experiences across facilities and make improvements in a proactive and efficient manner. This same principle is propped up the operational model for Aletheia.

  • Clinical Collaboration: Through PharmD on Demand's Remote Pharmacy Services, their team of clinical pharmacists were able to work in tandem with clinicians to ensure that patients did not experience any gaps in their level of care after the onsite pharmacist was gone for the day. PharmD's team of pharmacists provides medication interventions to reduce the impact of medication errors. In doing so, they are able to gain insight into common clinical and nursing practices, fueling innovation in new ways to serve the pharmacy and hospital as a whole.

  • Data Analytics: The pharmacy profession is driven by data - patients' lab levels determine appropriate medication administrations and pharmacy formularies are determined by patient and prescriber needs, drug efficacy and financial impact. PharmD on Demand champions providing transparent data into pharmacy operations, medication interventions, patient care metrics that are impacted by pharmacy's role in the cycle of patient care. The positive response from hospital administrators to clear, actionable, and meaningful data lead Aletheia to incorporate data analytics as a vital function to all services.

These insights, paired with experienced hospital leadership on the team, gives Aletheia the right framework to manage hospitals with the goal of ensuring each hospital thrives and is a health care partner in its community.
