Dr. Anosh Ahmed Says Children’s Lives At Risk With Rising Energy Bills

By: Get News
11.9 million children live in poverty in the USA. That figure will rise with the increase in energy bills. Poverty kills more people every year than heart disease or Cancer.

Well-known physician and the founder of the Dr. Anosh Ahmed Scholarship Program and The Anosh Inc. Foundation has warned that the number of children in poverty will increase due to rising energy bills. Dr. Anosh Ahmed whose nonprofit organization is designed to give vulnerable children and adults access to safe housing, education, and medical care has warned that children’s lives are at risk.

The physician who wants to reduce the number of families suffering from poverty has said more than 37.2 million people are living in poverty with 11.9 million of them being children. The COVID pandemic was responsible for a rise in child poverty and now with energy bills at their highest in more than 41 years, the number of children who live in poverty is rising at a fast rate.

Families living in poverty are doing everything they can to survive and that includes missing meals and not heating their homes. However, a cold home can damage children’s lungs as well as their brain development which according to medical experts could lead to infant deaths. More than 5 million families are missing meals due to poverty and 9 million children lack regular access to nutritious food. Dr. Anosh Ahmed wants to all children have access to nutritious food and for families to stop missing meals.

“If a positive solution is not found to the growing poverty problem, then we are putting our children at risk”, says Dr. Anosh Ahmed
