Saturday Dungeons & Dragons® (D&D®) fans around the world will gather in stores, shops, and even a British dungeon to celebrate Worldwide Dungeons & Dragons Game Day (WWDDGD).

Almost 1,400 stores worldwide will open their doors to game devotees, offering a special D&D roleplaying game adventure set in Icewind Dale, one of D&Ds most iconic settings. Participating locations including retail stores and special sites around the globe, such as The London Dungeon and among military units stationed in Iraq. Each location has received special WWDDGD kits that include the materials necessary to run the special adventure, as well as unique giveaways.

Many participating stores will also offer special promotional prices on Dungeons & Dragons miniatures, starting on November 3 and good for a limited quantity of items. In addition, participating stores will run additional game events to celebrate recent D&D Miniatures releases, including Unhallowed, Night Below and the Gargantuan Blue Dragon. Interested gamers should ask their local retailer for the special promotional price and events for these minis during WWDDGD.

WWDDGD 2007 offers players the opportunity to get together with other player groups to expand their 3rd Edition playing experience, said Scott Rouse, Senior Brand Manager for D&D at Wizards of the Coast. We hope that player groups use this opportunity to share their plans for wrapping up their 3rd Edition campaigns with a flourish.

Following the success of last years WWDDGD, when more than 25,000 players came out to roll some dice and conquer their foes, Wizards of the Coast anticipates even greater participation this year, as news of the 4th Edition launch spreads. In advance of WWDDGD, Wizards announced that the 4th Edition Players Handbook®, Dungeon Masters Guide®, and Monster Manual® will all be available on June 6, 2008.

Players can continue rolling dice and having fun in the interim by exploring the adventures available in upcoming book releases, including Anauroch: The Empire of Shade, releasing in November 2007.
