Announces 2021-2022 Board of Directors

BOSTON - July 19, 2021 - (Newswire.com)

The board of directors of The German-American Business Council of Boston, Inc. (GABC) is pleased to announce the election of Jan Hartmann, M.D., Chief Medical Officer at Haemonetics, as its new president. Dr. Hartmann is taking over the presidency from Bodo Liesenfeld who did not seek reelection.

"I congratulate Jan wholeheartedly and I am certain that he will guide GABC into a bright future," said Bodo Liesenfeld, who will continue to serve as a director on the board. He added that "Jan has excellent ties to the business community, and he is a natural leader and consummate networker which will serve our growing membership and the GABC community at large very well."

Jan Hartmann has been a board member since 2019 and chaired the task force for GABC's inaugural flagship event, the German American Economic Forum in 2019.

"I am excited to step into this new role on the board at both a challenging and exciting time," commented Jan Hartmann. "The pandemic has upended life and business both in the U.S. and in Germany - making knowledge exchange and collaboration more important than ever. I look forward to working together with my fellow board members to ensure that GABC continues to be the premier platform and resource for the German-American business community in the New England region."

Before joining Haemonetics in 2016, Jan Hartmann spent eight years at McKinsey & Company where he most recently served as Associate Partner in the Global Pharmaceuticals and Medical Device Practice. He received his M.D. from the Albert-Ludwigs-University of Freiburg, and his medical license after completing his studies at the Ludwig-Maximilian-University of Munich, both in Germany. Dr. Hartmann and his wife live in Brookline, MA where they raise their two young daughters.

The election took place at the annual meeting of the board of directors at the end of June.
