Wells Fargo Launches Season Two of ‘About Money’ Podcast

Wells Fargo Wealth & Investment Management has launched season two of its podcast, “About Money,” which will examine the “jobs” money can do. In conversations with industry experts from both inside and outside of Wells Fargo, Michael Liersch, head of Advice and Planning for Wells Fargo’s Wealth & Investment Management division, hosts lively discussions that explore ways to think of money as a tool, not as a means in and of itself.

“In season one, we talked about money taboos and why it can be so hard to have money conversations, which applies to almost everyone. At one time or another, we’ve all hit roadblocks in our ability to talk about money, and could have used tips to overcome those obstacles,” said Liersch.

“Season two is a natural extension of that because once we start talking about money, we can identify the many jobs money does for us – like helping to support family, our lifestyle, leisure, our community, and our retirement. Then, we can ask ourselves and others, ‘is it really doing that for me?’ By talking about money, you put it in its right place – as a tool to help us accomplish one or more of these jobs. My hope is that this season inspires listeners of all ages and stages in life to identify and determine – in collaboration with others – whether money is truly working for them, so they can make better money decisions.”

In season two of the 11-episode “About Money” series, which can be found on Spotify, listeners will hear money insights from guests including Jennifer Risher, author of “We Need to Talk,” Brian “The Points Guy” Kelly, Arne Boudewyn, Head of Wells Fargo’s Institute for Family Culture, Ron Long, who leads Wells Fargo’s Aging Client Services – and many more.

“Money conversations can range from the exciting, like where we’re taking our next vacation or how to achieve new career objectives, to the challenging, like discussing money with aging relatives or how to decide on the right amount of debt to take on. My guests this season offer their fresh perspectives on these topics, and offer listeners terrific insights,” said Liersch. “By viewing money as a tool to help us accomplish objectives, we’re able to focus more on what we want to accomplish. That gives our money hang-ups less of a chance to trip us up.”

Liersch, who has a doctorate degree in cognitive psychology, currently leads a team at Wells Fargo responsible for developing and propagating research-based methods to help advisors and clients most productively collaborate around their money decisions.

The “About Money” podcast series can be found on Spotify. A new episode from season two will be released each week, with the final episode of the season airing January 12, 2022.
