The 2021 Chinese Overseas Students Conference, a gathering of leading talents, experts, scholars, and student representatives, opened in Hangzhou, Zhejiang province on Nov 7.
Keynote speeches, roundtable forums, and debate competitions echoing the national development strategies, as well as scientific and technological innovation goals were held, aiming to attract more Chinese overseas students to return to China after succeeding in their specific fields of studies and help them forge closer relationships with domestic industries, technology, and capital.
The conference also saw the announcement of a white paper on the development of Chinese students overseas, detailing their overall conditions, the development status of students returning to China from overseas, as well as their preferences in selecting cities when returning. The white paper aims to offer an in-depth look on Chinese overseas students for government agencies, research institutes, enterprises, as well as other organizations and individuals.
The conference launched its first edition last year, attracting the participation of over 500 students from renowned universities at home and abroad. Over 40,700 viewers attended the conference online.
The conference was a sideline event of the 2021 Hangzhou International Human Resources Exchange and Cooperation Conference, which also took place in Hangzhou on Nov 7.
