The program requirements for Alaska Bible College’s BA in Elementary Education cover a wide range of topics. 36 credits are in Biblical Studies and Christian Ministry. In these courses, students will learn about the New and Old Testaments, the coctrines, missiology, and much more.
Additionally, students have to complete 36 credits of general education, which includes classes in English composition, literature, history, mathematics, philosophy, and science. The program’s remaining 48 credits are dedicated to subjects related to educator preparation.
By the end of the program, students will be able to understand and address the developmental, behavioral, and learning needs of K-5 learners and apply content and curricular knowledge in a way that they can grasp and connect to. They will also be able to plan classes, establish suitable settings for learning, and create engaging lessons. In keeping with Alaska Bible College’s mission, students will also become servant leaders with Christ-like character, positively impacting their communities.
The state accreditation for the BA in Elementary Education degree is pending as it is a new addition to Alaska Bible College’s program offerings. However, the program complies with all national and state standards regarding the issuance of teacher certification, and students can pursue teaching jobs upon graduation.
“A BA in Elementary Education from Alaska Bible College certifies you for teaching in Alaska,” said a spokesperson for the school. “The program prepares servants who lead with Christ-like character to be highly effective teacher candidates equipped to meet the diverse learning needs of students in various learning environments.”
To apply for the BA in Elementary Education program, prospective students can fill out an admissions form on the Alaska Bible College website. There is a $35 application fee and at this time the college can only accept citizens and legal residents of the United States of America.
