The 2023 China Digital Economy Innovation and Development Conference, jointly hosted by the Ministry of Industry and Information Technology and the People’s Government of Guangdong Province, will be held in Shantou, Guangdong Province from August 16th to 18th.
The digital economy is a key force in restructuring global factor resources, reshaping the global economic structure, and even changing the global competitive landscape. In recent years, China’s digital economy has achieved positive results, and the advantages of new infrastructure construction have been further consolidated. The core industries of the digital economy have continued to develop, moving towards the goal of becoming stronger, better, and larger, bringing vitality into technological innovation and economic and social development. In 2022, the scale of China’s digital economy exceeded 50 trillion yuan for the first time, with the digital economy accounting for 41.5% of GDP and becoming an important pillar of the national economy. The development of digital economy has become an important driving force for promoting new industrialization and moving towards Chinese path to modernization.
As a national level digital economy conference jointly organized by the Ministry and Province, this conference is themed with “Gathering Digital Economy, Linking Overseas Chinese to Create a Future – High Quality Promotion of New Industrialization”, with promoting the deep integration and innovative development of digital technology and industry as the breakthrough point, planning the “3+3+N” characteristic activity mode, focusing on the three main lines of digital industrialization, industrial digitization, and digital governance, and constructing a core support system that integrates “conference, exhibition, and competition”, Multiple themed forums and featured activities will be held simultaneously. The conference invites government authorities, domestic and foreign famous academicians, winners of international awards, representatives of central enterprises, domestic and foreign communication operators, and leading enterprises of digital economy such as Internet, cloud computing, big data, artificial intelligence, overseas Chinese leaders, representatives of national think tanks and industry organizations to gather in Shantou to discuss the “digital economy”, focuses on serving the high-quality development of local digital economy industry, builds a national digital economy industry exchange and cooperation platform, and helps explore a new mode of international cooperation in digital economy.
According to the organizing committee of the conference, the “Conference” consists of an opening ceremony, a main forum, and more than 10 themed forums. Discussions will be conducted around the development trend, opportunities and challenges, key core technology breakthroughs and applications, digital technology empowering traditional industries to transform and upgrade, and international cooperation and development paths of the digital economy in the global and China digital economy. Based on the four aspects of building basic support, activating innovation momentum, advancing important practices, and exploring development paths, seven think tanks under the Ministry of Industry and Information Technology will respectively undertake more than 10 theme forums such as the “Academician Forum on Digital Economy Innovation and Development”, focusing on digital New Infrastructure, computing network, Big data, data elements, digital trade, artificial intelligence and ChatGPT, industrial Internet, Metaverse, Digital transformation, industry finance cooperation, the digital Maritime Silk Road, future industries and other cutting-edge hot topics offer suggestions for promoting high-quality development of the digital economy.
“Exhibition” is a special exhibition on the innovation and development of digital economy, focusing on the achievements of Digital transformation in traditional industries, digital technology and industrial integration development and digital application achievements, and application scenarios of key elements in the field of digital economy, planning comprehensive exhibition areas, enterprise exhibition areas, and characteristic exhibition areas, respectively showing the development of digital economy, digital technology application, and digital transformation of characteristic traditional industries in China, Guangdong Province, and Shantou City Innovative achievements and typical cases.
The “Competition” refers to the 2023 China Digital Technology Innovation and Application Competition, which is based on the development trend of the digital economy and aims to promote the innovative application of digital technology in key fields, promoting the deep integration of digital technology and the real economy. The competition set up three tracks, namely, data governance innovation application, digital education innovation application, and digital health innovation application, to select a batch of digital technology innovation application projects and outstanding talents for the public, accelerate the implementation and application of high-quality projects, enable the digital development of local industries, help the transformation and upgrading of industrial structure, and inject surging power into the innovation and development of the digital economy.
The conference will also hold a series of featured activities, including a 30-person round table on digital economy, research on featured industries, and release the latest research results in many digital economy fields, such as the Report on China’s Digital Economy Development Index (2023), to provide authoritative guidance and intellectual support for the digital economy industry and lead the weather vane of China’s digital economy development.
